FIFA 22 gameplay features
Covering all of the new FIFA 22 gameplay features on next gen and old gen. FIFA 22 will be the biggest change in any of the series so far for PS5 Xbox One Series and Google Stadia. The game will still have many changes on old gen but obviously EA have given the new consoles more attention for gameplay. EA have released 35 pages of pitch notes which are summarised below.
Next gen fifa 22 gameplay and hypermotion details
HyperMotion technology enabled EA to motion capture 22 players on the pitch at once. Powerful machine learning delivers smoother organic animations in every aspect of gameplay. Increased player intelligence, movement, ball control and reactions. FIFA 22 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will use hypermotion and have over 4000 new animations. In comparison for FIFA 21 there were only 750 new animations for next gen. These animations allow for more varied ball control, striking of the ball and battles. Such as jumping and heading, tackling and sliding.
Old gen consoles such as Xbox One and PS4 will not use hypermotion. It will not be available to PC players either, although it will be available via Google Stadia. Which can be accessed on any device that has 10mb or higher internet speed. 35mb recommended for 4k.
Players will appear more human in next gen FIFA 22, talking, pointing and reacting. A new defensive AI rewrite meaning players should be more aware of each other and act as a unit. Whether more zonal marking will improve the defending remains to be seen. In FIFA 21 defending usually saw everyone leave rows of defenders on the edge of their box. So we aren’t sure if the changes will be so obvious. More intelligent runs and movement in attack. Again we have heard that before but been let down in the past.
New FIFA 22 gameplay details
All versions of FIFA 22 will have changes to gameplay. There are lots more realistic ball physics for all situations. Affecting how the ball moves, how it bends, bounces and changes direction from touch. Goalkeepers have been rewritten to allow for better movement with new animations. Hopefully this will mean more varied saves and goals each time. An end to a meta type of finishing maybe, we can hope. There are 4 new skill moves. A skill bridge with heel and a four touch turn, both 4 star skills. Two new 5 star skill moves with the first time spin and scoop turn fake. Another new addition to gameplay in FIFA 22 is the explosive sprint. More on that below with videos.
Explosive sprint examples FIFA 22 footage
Explosive sprint in FIFA 22 means both attacking and defending players can suddenly move at pace from stood. Potentially this could be good. Our tweet below shows the gameplay slowed down.
New explosive sprint in FIFA 22 gameplay looks less OP than bridge due to the animation and direction of run. Could defend both these situations with a deeper jockey or well timed slide tackle. And defending players can do explosive sprint too. Hopefully it works well. #FIFA22 pic.twitter.com/hcdkdM23dt
