FIFA crossing tutorial sections:
The FIFA crossing controls and settings
These are the FIFA crossing controls and settings. We recommend using assisted crossing for better control of the cross. Manual unfortunately doesn’t work well due to input delay and the poor passing system in FIFA.
These are the types of crosses in FIFA. The more power you hold the longer the cross will be. If a button combination it will be the length of time the last button pressed. Practice in kick off on beginner.
How to do driven cross in FIFA
Press r1/rb and cross button to perform a driven cross in FIFA. This is the best type of cross in the game. It is a fast early cross bending away from goal. Therefore making it harder to defend against. Also use driven ground cross to keep the ball lower. Better against bigger stronger defenders.
The key thing to look out for is your attacker putting his arm out. Meaning he is ready for the cross. You should release the cross as soon as possible after you see this. When crossing the ball from out wide you will have a better chance of scoring if you release the ball earlier so that the defenders have less time to position themselves and the attacker is running onto the ball.
When to do ground cross in FIFA
To do a ground cross in FIFA press the cross button twice. This is the weakest cross which we use for near post only. Usually away from the keeper towards the edge of the box. Being a slow short cross it will bend away from defender unlike a straight pass.
How and when to do whipped cross in FIFA
To perform a whipped cross in FIFA hold L1 and R1/LB and RB and press cross. We love this as it swipes the foot across the bottom of the ball fizzing it with back spin. Quite a quick animation driving the ball medium height for a volley or even header. Scored lots of far post volleys using this.
Driven through ball cross technique in FIFA
When out wide if you aim a driven through ball towards the penalty area it will be a cross. Very similar to the driven cross in situations where players are running into the box. Use driven through ball when breaking at pace or lots of space between the keeper and striker. Counter attack with defenders running back is perfect for this. A player running through will usually run on to the ball. To perform a driven through ball press R1/RB and through pass button.
High cross
The High cross holding L1/LB floats the ball into the box slowly and high in the air. Better for big strong strikers with power header trait. If lucky to have Drogba, Haaland etc they nearly always win the header. Don’t forget you can use these techniques from corners. We like to put a high cross to the back post away from keeper to a tall strong striker.
How to do Rabona cross in FIFA
The rabona cross adds some flair to your game for some showboating. To perform a rabona cross your player needs the flair trait. Then hold L2/LT when crossing using his weaker foot and at an angle. So usually you will be facing the goal but holding the direction of the cross inside across the box. You can also do a driven rabona which is slightly lower and quicker holding R2/RB at the same time. You can see more on our Rabona passing and shooting blog with video.
How to do a Flair cross in FIFA
To perform a flair cross press L2/LT and cross button. Players will do scissor kicks, volleys and various fancy crosses. The ball usually travels quick too so it is worth trying them. We recommend a lobbed pass to a winger and a flair cross first time volley into the box. This often provides a shot on goal using another volley.

my crosses always go to the back post why does this happen
Change crossing to semi assisted? Should fix it.
Move the left stick towards the exact direction just before you press the cross button..
My passing power assistance is always off and I have no option in-game to turn it on. I change it in my settings after and it doesn’t save any other suggestions?
It doesn’t save for Ultimate team. So you have to get better at using passing. Not easy if a bit laggy can have bad affect on your play.
My crosses always go back post on single press cross regardless of how long I powerup.
mine too! i dont know how to do it right! i just click square and my cross go to the second post!
Same with me. SO annoying
Same…
So would you recommend manual crossing and passing. I use assisted crossing and almost never my crosses reach target.
With assisted passing, the passes seem sometimes to go to another players than desired, is that so?
how to win header while crossing? and when to press shot button, where should i press the direction key so that the header goes in the net? please reply
Read the heading page 😉
Who are the best crossers in Fifa 13 bronze, silver and gold?
You would have to search the database for crossing stat. https://fifaaddiction.com/ultimate-team/price-guide
First off, I wanted to say great website and thanks for all your dedication to the game. This is my first time buying FIFA, and I have gotten better, but I cannot understand the crossing/heading aspect of the game. Specifically, it seems that when I try to low cross or ground cross, while you’re supposed to tap the ‘X’ button different times, I feel that my guy always releases the ball before I have completed those steps. I know for the early cross you’re supposed to hold left bumper and then cross, but perhaps you can clarify this. Thanks, I’ll be posting additional comments regarding dribbling in the different section as well.
Have to do tap them very quick. Especially the triple tap ground cross.
Also, you have to triple or double tap square not x-that’s why you’re not getting enough time. As soon as you press x, the player will ground pass the ball.
I’m pretty sure the guy is on Xbox
Please update for FIFA 12.
Exactly the same as in 11 crossing Berba. They haven’t changed it at all.
